Hops: The Winning Ingredient

We’re so proud to announce that we’ve won not one but two Gold awards at the Great British Food Awards. Our Citra Hops Organic Kombucha and Jasmine Hops Organic Sparkling Tea both won gold. Even more special - they were the only two winners of the Soft Drinks category.

Hops have always been a crowd-pleasing ingredient - the perfect balance of crisp and citrusy flavour.

Hops are the flower cones of the hop plant, Humulus lupulus, a member of the Cannabaceae family - the same family as cannabis and hemp.

They contribute a range of flavours and aromas - bitter, citrusy, earthy and crisp. When paired with sweet floral flavours such as Jasmine, the taste is well-balanced and complex.

The judges comments paid recognition to this. Laura Willoughby, said: “Lovely Citra hop aroma, nice subtle acidity and hoppy taste. Really nicely balanced. Would go well with food in place of a beer. Lively carbonation really carries the flavour.”
