FAQ's
How long does it take to brew kombucha at home?
It can take between 7-14 days depending on how you like your kombucha to taste. After 7 days of fermentation, your kombucha will taste sweeter and milder. If you like your kombucha to taste stronger and more acidic, leave to ferment for up to 14 days and taste it every day until you're happy with it.
What should I do when my brew is finished?
When your brew is finished (when you are happy with the taste of it), make sure to save 10% of your brew as well as your scoby and store them somewhere contained and warm.
You can then use this as a starter liquid for your next brew.
You may also want to flavour your kombucha with combinations of fruit and herbs - get creative!
Your kombucha should be stored in the fridge in a sealed bottle. It's really important that it's stored in the fridge to avoid further fermentation and pressure build up.
How can I avoid my brew going mouldy?
It's vitally important that for the first few days of your brew, the liquid remains between 22-30 degrees. This is the most important thing to ensure that your brew is successful.
Use your temperature strip to monitor and control the temperature.
Also, ensure that all of your equipment including your jar is really clean before starting your brew.
